Good afternoon, everyone! It’s Stacy here with a card I made for my father-in-law’s upcoming birthday. He and my husband are big time fishermen. They love to hunt and fish as much as they can. My husband even has 6 of his “monster trophies” up on the wall in his man cave. His dad took him fishing as soon as he was able to walk, so it’s in his blood. So when Art Impressions came out with this stamp set, Reel Great Guys, I knew I just had to have it. It is the spitting image of my husband and his dad crammed into a small fishing boat trying to catch that next “monster”.
I used my Distress Oxide inks and the new Distress Brushes by Tim Holtz. After I stamped the image on a panel of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80# cardstock, I masked it off with a piece of Inkadinkadoo Masking Paper. I then used the inks and the brushes, sweeping them from side to side, to create the green/blue waters of Minnesota and the clear blue summer sky. Next, I carefully removed the mask and colored the image in with my Copic markers. I popped up the “monster” fish with foam squares so it looked it was fiercely jumping out of the water. I used my MFT A2 Stitched Rectangle dies to cut out the panel, which I mounted on a panel of gold mirror cardstock and a piece of hunter green cardstock, both from my stash. I stamped the images from the stamp set with Versa Fine Black Onyx ink.
Thanks so much for visiting,
Stacy
