Faith Family Farming Friends

Happy Saturday to ya’ll!  Today I have a sweet country card to share with you,   I really wanted to go back and revisit my Scrapping for Less May Flavor of the Month Card Kit that was titled “In the Countryside”.  I didn’t get the chance to fully explore my kit back in May, so I dug it out again.  This farm stamp is just the most precious stamp, it happily reminds me of my grandparent’s farm, where my mom grew up.  My mom is forever the country gal.  She loves everything about the old time vintage farm decorations from her era of growing up on a farm in the 50’s and 60’s.  I just knew I wanted to make her a card from this stamp set that was in the Banana Split level.

To start out I stamped the image on the MFT Kraft cardstock that was in the kit with my newly released Ground Expresso Distress Ink Oxide ink pad using my Tonic Tim Holtz Travelers Stamp Platform.  I then die cut the image out with my MFT In/Out Stitched Square cutting dies.  I chose a dark green check paper from the Tiny Check Collection Three pack and die cut that with my MFT Stitched A2 Rectangle Dies which I then layered onto a panel of MFT Black Licorice cardstock that was also in the kit.  I took the wide burlap “ribbon” and laid it over this panel, securely taping it down on the back.  After this, I popped the whole panel up on two layers of adhesive foam and attached it to my 110# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White card base.

Next I layered the stamped image on more of the black cardstock and adhered it to the card with Score Tape and adhesive foam tape.  To further decorate the card I took a piece of hemp twine and colored it with the same Ground Expresso Distress Oxide ink by running the ink pad over the length of twine until it was completely covered.  I now had twine that matched the ink color of my image.  I tied the twine around the burlap section and knotted it.

I then took the green sequins from the same Collection 3 package and glued them down with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  While the glue was still wet and had seeped up through the hole in the sequin I placed a teeny tiny black gemstone in the center of each sequin.  I also adhered down three more black gemstones in the upper corner of the stamped image.

My card was now done.  I am very happy with how it turned out and I know my mom will love it.  I hope my card gives you inspiration to dig out your past kits, revisit them, and make them come to life again.  I know I plan to do it more often.
